Excimer laser

At Persian Eye Clinic we have used several laser machines and we have substantial experience with each of them. Since we acquired the  Bausch and Lomb Technolas 217-Z100 excimer laser with the new Zyoptix workstation and software, we mainly switched  to this system and right now we perform the majority of our procedures with this state of the art technology and we have had outstanding results

The Bausch and Lomb Technolas 217z excimer laser is the leading flying spot laser on the market. Flying spot technology permits treatment of large regions of the cornea with extreme precision and accuracy. The Technolas 217z excimer laser is also capable of treating very large diameter areas of the cornea, blending the transition between treated and non-treated cornea very smoothly. This helps increase the quality of vision and reduce the risk of glare and halos after treatment. In FDA clinical trials, the Technolas 217z excimer laser has produced results that greatly exceeded FDA’s benchmarks for clinical safety as well as the clinical outcomes of other laser on the market.

Our laser is the latest generation of B&L Zyoptix system with advanced features such as: high speed and multidimensional eye tracker, iris recognition technology, optimized beam profile ( innovative truncated Gaussian beam). The laser is capable of performing both standard and wavefront customized techniques as well as very new aspheric ablation profile. The tissue saving feature of machine allows for minimal removal of the cornea during ablation. These advanced features have led to a safe, accurate and fast machine.

Zyoptix™ System for Personalized Vision Correction (Customized LASIK)

When considering laser vision correction surgery, you want the best for your eyes: The best surgeon; The best care before and after treatment; and the best treatment system available.

For many patients, the treatment applied by the Planoscan™ treatment system of the Bausch and Lomb Technolas 217z excimer laser will provide excellent vision. One type of treatment however, isn’t right for everyone. Eyes are as individual as fingerprints and some patients have more complex vision problems than others. If your eyes have elevated levels of higher order aberrations such as coma and spherical aberrations, which are subtle optical imperfections above and beyond nearsightedness and astigmatism, you may benefit from treatment with the Zyoptix™ System for Personalized Vision Correction.

The Zyoptix system allows us to create a precise map of both the inside and the outside surfaces each patient’s cornea, and using wavefront technology, gives us the ability to measure the unique imperfections within each patient’s optical system. These imperfections include higher-order aberrations, whose impact is noticeable under low-light conditions like driving at night, and contribute to visual disturbances such as reduced contrast sensitivity, glare or halos. Higher-order aberrations such as coma and spherical aberrations are correctable only through wavefront-guided customized laser vision correction like that offered by the Zyoptix system. Dr. MacRae and the StrongVision team have proven that treatment of these subtle aberrations contributes to improved visual outcomes after laser vision correction surgery. The University of Rochester Nomogram takes into account not only the effect of these individual aberrations, but also the interactions between the aberrations. The patients treated with Zyoptix are four times more likely to report that their night vision is better than worse after surgery.

Zyoptix customized LASIK may be appropriate for patients with naturally large pupils under dim light settings, patients with pre-existing night vision difficulties or problems driving at night, patients who have already had refractive surgery with quality of vision problems post treatment, or patients with pre-existing elevated higher order aberrations as determined at the pre-operative evaluation. Zyoptix treatment is also an option for every patient with nearsightedness and/or astigmatism if their prescription is in the treatment range.

Femtosecond laser

Always at the forefront of the latest in technology, we at Persian Eye Clinic are proud to announce that we are the first and only center in Iran to offer a blade-free, all laser, Femto-LASIK procedure. Utilizing the new Ziemer’s FEMTO LDV  laser to create a uniquely safe and precise LASIK flap, combined with the accuracy of a true custom treatment with the Bausch & Lomb,  Zyoptix, patients can expect the very best for their eyes. We also offer Advanced Surface Ablations for those patients whose eye condition would best benefit from this procedure . Persian Eye Clinic is committed to ensuring the best possible procedure for your unique eyes, and we have the technology and expertise to be able to follow through on that commitment.

LASIK, the most popular and most widely used procedure for vision correction, has been perfected in millions of successful operations over the past 20 years. Now, with Femto-LASIK, a technologically advanced system is available to bring top-quality LASIK to every refractive practice.

Femto-LASIK is a LASIK procedure performed with the Ziemer FEMTO LDV Femtosecond Surgical Laser in conjunction with any one of the leading excimer lasers. At Persian Eye Clinic, we have  combined the Ziemer FEMTO LDV Femtosecond Surgical Laser with the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix Eximer Laser. Integration of these state of-the-art technologies provide us with the best currently available treatment for superior vision. We call this advaced procedure as: Femto-Zy LASIK.

Femto-LASIK is a completely different treatment in fundamental ways. Ziemer's FEMTO LDV is not just another femtosecond laser, similar to Intralase, Femtec, or Zeiss. Compared to these conventional femtolasers, the FEMTO LDV operates at pulse rates that are orders of magnitude higher, pulse energies that are much lower, and delivery optics that are very tightly focused for maximum tissue disruption in the focal spot and no thermal or radiation effects to the surrounding tissue. Unlike other femtolaser-based treatments, Femto-LASIK is a highly integrated procedure, giving surgical teams a  time-efficient workflow.

Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems received FDA clearance in 2007 for its FEMTO LDV® (Da Vinci Femtosecond Laser), an improved method of ALL-LASER LASIK. This technological advancement provides patients increased safety than the older Intralase® system.
